We can’t wait to see the rockstars at our Rock U Girl Bands Night, and our crafters at I.R.L. Night, and especially everyone at our Drag Performance March 8th and our Spring Equinox March 15.
This month is particularly special for an independent woman-owned cocktail bar just like ours, as it’s INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S MONTH!!!!🎉🥳🎊
We’re so grateful to our supporters, especially the other women in our community and our industry who hold us up so we can all achieve greater things together!
P.S. Now is as good a time as any to remind everyone that anyone who identifies as a woman (even if just sometimes ;)) is invited and encouraged to celebrate this month (and all the time) with us at the bar. Abricot remains a space of safety and solidarity for the transfemme community now and forever les biches! 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈

Why Women Are Behind the Bar and the Business
An Owner’s Corner with Jennifer Crain
It’s a funny thing to talk about identities in general and women in particular in the context of one celebratory day or month. After all, we’re around to be celebrated — and more importantly, to give you reasons to celebrate — all year long. It’s not a time-limited celebration.
But at the same time, while representing the majority of the world’s population — and having the strongest track records as small business owners, women still represent the vast minority of the hospitality industry, receive 5% of all VC funding across all categories, and still don’t receive equal respect, equal representation or equal pay in the world at large. The category for women bar owners is smaller still. I hope that’s changing.
So why does it matter? If you like the bar, the atmosphere, the people, who cares who’s behind it? We have the best men on board too. Some of the best I’ve ever worked with… We believe when we’re hiring that who we are is way more than gender and at Abricot we care more about big generous hearts of hospitality and great cocktails. We aren’t just meant for women, we’re ‘by women, for everyone’. That said, I still believe it matters that women are at the heart of this bar and this business — because we bring unique viewpoints to the hospitality conversation. It’s difficult to explain but easy, I think, to feel when you come into Abricot.
Abricot isn’t meant to be a highly gendered space, pink isn’t our favorite color (it’s apricot, duh ;)) but we don’t shy away from who we are — and we hope you don’t either. We are meant to be a space where women’s talents and skills are showcased at least as frequently as men’s, where women (and all of our clients!!!) feel free to come alone with a book or to listen to jazz and know, without any considerations, that they are in a safe space where they can enjoy the evening however they’d like; we want to normalize environments where LGBTQIA+ communities, multiple nationalities and preferences can show up in whatever definition they’d like — or drop whatever definitions they’d like — and leave the baggage of a sometimes-difficult, very defining world behind. We want you to feel at home and cared for here. We want you to feel your spark burning brighter for the time you spend with us. We may not always succeed in every moment, but that’s the intention, and most of the amazing, creative, exceedingly bright, crazily multitasking women I know rock at this.
So why are women behind the business? Because I’m a woman, and this is the business I decided to create. And I’ve been lucky enough to create the most generous-hearted talented team to join me on this adventure. I hope you love it too, spread the word and keep bringing your unique voice to Abricot. That’s why we’re here.🧡
Love,🧡
